Pranav is a globally acclaimed Solar Visionary and Climate Change activist. He has been the past Chairman of Global Solar Council, which was formed in Paris during the UN COP 21 Climate Summit.
He has made outstanding contributions to India’s spectacular Solar growth starting from the year 2006 when India was at zero MW to the present capacity of 44 GW placing India amongst the top 5 solar countries in the world. He is currently the Chairman of the National Solr Energy Federation of India(NSEFI), New Delhi which is an apex organization of all solar industry stakeholders, which he founded in 2013.
In the area of Hydrogen, his vision dates back to 1982, when he emphasized the role of Hydrogen as a powerful reductant of Iron ore. As such he played a catalytic and pivotal role in establishing India’s First Gas based Sponge Iron and Steel Plant at Hazira in Gujarat State, which saved millions of tonnes of Carbon Dioxide usually generated in a steel plant using coal. For this work, he received the National Metallurgist Award from the Government of India, in the year 1990. During the period 2006 to 2018, he has attended US DOE’s Hydrogen Review program many times on invitation.
During his long career spanning over 49 years, he has worked in top management and senior positions in Steel, Petroleum, Solar, and Environmental companies. One of the outstanding features of his career is mentoring a large number of small and medium-sized industries(MSMEs) in the Solar sector.
T2M remembers Pranav Mehta and his contributions as an advisor.
